My old RCA 20" TV model J20300BL goes into channel search when plugged into power, after reached 83, it then shut down by itself. Same thing when power on. This happened after I removed the IR module for repair. I do not have original remote CRK63A1 to bring up setup menu. Onboard menu only brings up Control and Alarm. Questions: 1. How do I exit the channel search mode? 2. How do I bring up setup menu without the remote? 3. Where can I buy a replacement IR module (by Sharp)? There is power to the IR module, I think it is 5V. Appreciate any help!
First I do not see that model listed. Second, im afraid there is no way to access the menu funtions without an original remote control. Bad news, acording to my remote source that original with the menu functions is no longer available. They do have a simple universal with no menu button. Im afain this is why I cant find anyparts for this set, its just too old? so sorry i cant assist you more with this Good Luck and let us know if you find out anything about this set and if you get it working.
Thank you for your post, Larry. The set is manufactured in December 1993. This model number is still listed in several parts sites. Is the "power on channel search then shut down" behavior related to some setting in the menu that requires the remote to bring up the menu to change or stop this behavior? If so, I need to fix the remote IR receiver on the front of the main board first. I opened the IR receiver module and found corrosion inside. Is there any place that offer replacement part for the IR receiver?
Im sorry buddie, I spoke too soon! There is a place called the partstore. Tele is 1-866-925-PART or http://www.partstore.com, they have what you need there I think. The only way to get into the menu is with a remote control, but maybe a universal RCA remote with a menu button on it will work?
