RCA Model F25432

I have an older model RCA TV Model F25432 that has a problem. It is connected to cable through a VCR but I cannot get the VCR or lower cable channels to work. After looking at the problem some more I found that the tv will not work on channel 3,4,5,6,9,14 even without the cable connected. This TV has electronic tuning versus the mechanical tuner so I figured that I would either get all of the channels or none of them. I cannot get the VCR to work to the TV because I can't tune in Ch3 or Ch4. But some lower channels (ie 11) work as well as all of the higher numbered ones. These problems started after cable was installed but the cable company says that the signal is good so it is my problem. Also, another TV on the same cable (with a splitter) works just fine. It all looks like a TV problem but I just wondered how/why?

Thanks in advance for anyone that can shed some light on this.

The Tv set has a tuner in it

The Tv set has a tuner in it and to tune the differant channels the TV tuner uses a voltage on a varator diode to change to differant channels. your problem is with the tuning control circuit or the tuner itself. Im betting thatb the tuner is bad as it is a common part to go bad in this model.  I wish I had the chassis number on the back of the set. it starts with CTC. Your problem depending on the chassis number could also be the On board tuner.  They have problems with the solder connections between the sheilds and the grounds around the OBT.  If this set is over 5 to 7 years old, I would say throw it out and purchace a newer one.  I saw yesterday a 32 inch RCA TYV set in walley world for 229!! Thats right 229.00!!  Man I remeber when these type of sets were 800.00 bucks!!  Well lets us know what byou decided as to repairing or replacing your set and Good Luck

The model number is CTC

The model number is CTC-203AD5. Would this problem cause just some channels to work and not others? I was under the impression that an electronic tuner would either work or not.
