my hdd/dvd pioneer dvr530h-s is not doing anything at all.
the display shows the time
on the tv the guideplus screen appears with the selected channel on a screen-on-screen kind of display in the top left corner
if a DVD is inserted the display changes to 'load' and then a tiny play symbol appears (but not played/displayed on tv)
aside from the open/close button (on remote and the machine) the DVD doesn't respond to any buttons being pressed on neither the remote control nor the actual machine

help - pioneer dvr530 - frozen ?
Hi techblonde! Welcome to the TechLore Community!
Sorry to hear about your DVR woes. The first thing I'd try to do is give it a kick in the rear by unplugging it for a while and plugging it back in. If the device is still functional, that should reset it and return it to normal operation.
Post back with your results.
Hi Matt - not quite the sort of help i was looking for - i don't want to lose all the camcorder recordings i've streamed onto the HDD.
I've sorted it this morning.
whilst holding down the on/off button on the remote control i also held down the stop button on the actual DVD.
Well, at least a reset did the trick. You performed what's known as a soft reset. Unplugging the cord is known as a hard reset, which can sometimes be more effective when a soft reset doesn't do the trick. For future reference, HDD data is stored magnetically, and would not be erased if the unit was unplugged, but either way, I'm glad you got it up and running.
