Error Message On DVD LCD

I have a Sony DVD/VCR player that has not been used very much....only about 6 months old, however out of warranty.
After my electricity went out one day I now have "error" displaying on the LCD. I tried to play a dvd yesterday and received a message on the tv screen that the disc could not be read. I tried several dvd's and received the same message. I tried unplugging and re-plugging.... same result.
What could be the problem??????

i have a oritron dvd/mp3/cd/picture cd player and i used it a couple of times since i had purchased it and now when i turn it on it says msg 0 what does this mean and what can be done to fix it

Hi,

I have Zenith Zry-316 and all of a sudden I have a problem with the DVD part of the VCR/DVD Recorder also. It will not play any disc all I get is "unknown disc, check disc" message and the door opens and ejects dvd. It used to work fine, and was only used 6 times. I only got to record 3 programs. Any ideas?
