Last night when I turned on my LCD TV there was a red and blue static over the picture. I have no cable hooked up to it, just a Dvd player and game systems. It woudnt go away until I shut the TV off and turned it back on. I have the tv about a week and it happened once. I called sharp and they said they never heard of this happening. Does any one know what this is? Should I return the tv? Any help is greatly appreciated.
While I can't tell you what's wrong with your TV or if it will happen again, there's two ways to look at this. If I personally bought something really expensive and it was not behaving properly, I would at the very least talk to the place that I bought it and let them know what was going on and see what they thought. If it was a reputable, high-end store, they will usually take care of you and have a record of your problem in case it recurs. If it's more of a chain, your luck probably won't be as good.
If you think it's a hassle to get to the store to take it back, you could consider waiting to see if it ever happens again. Assuming you have at least a one-year warranty, you can put off the hassle of having to lug it back. Also, you'll have to explain the problem to them and since you can't repeat it who knows if they will believe you. You might also want to consider buying an extended warranty if you don't already have one. As you can tell from this site, TVs break down often!
If it does happen again, take a digital picture of it so that you can have a record of the behavior.
