Months back it was uncovered that premium home and professional speaker manufacturer M&K Sound would be making a return under new ownership... after being closed for over a year. Today, it looks like M&K may be looking to make their return in the near future thanks to a tip by member FIG here in the TechLore Community.
mksoundsystem.com went online today, and appears to be M&K Sound's new website. Earlier in the day, the site wasn't there, but several search engine caches had started to reveal quite a bit about what was going on behind the scenes.
Most importantly, the new site shows which M&K products the new ownership is bringing back. The lines currently listed include:
- Most of the classic M&K 150 THX Series
- S-150THX (main speaker)
- MP-150 THX (on wall version of the S-150THX)
- SS-150THX Tripole Surround Speaker
- MX-250THX (Powerful dual 12" push-pull sub)
- MX-350THX (Super powerful dual 12" push-pull sub)
- Most of the M&K 750 THX System
- LCR-750THX (main speakers)
- Center 750 THX (center channel)
- Surr 55 T Tripole (surrounds..)
- SB-1250THX Subwoofer (single 12" subwoofer)
- M&K Xenon Series
- X-36 (Compact loudspeaker)
- X-26 (Satellite loudspeaker)
- X-24T (Tripole surround)
- M&K M Series
- M-7 (compact loudspeaker)
- M-5 (satellite loudspeaker)
- M-4T (Tripole surround)
- M&K Alpha Series (formerly the K Series)
- Alpha K-5 (satellite loudspeaker)
- Alpha K-4T (Tripole surround
- Alpha KX-10 (8" powered sub)
- Subwoofers
- M/SB-8 (8" sub, not formerly a part of the Xenon line or M Series.)
- M/SB-12 (12" sub, not formerly a part of the Xenon or M Series line. Looks like a replacement to the V-75/V-76).
Looks like the big players are there, and I was even surprised they're bringing back the M Series and the Xenon line. That's great news for audio enthusiasts since it provides a lot of variety and price points for M&K speakers.
I wasn't surprised to see that certain non-tripole surround speakers were eliminated, like the 550THX. Of course, in the Xenon, M-Series, and Alpha lines you could always use the front satellites as surrounds, but that kind of bypasses some of M&K's appeal.
The best news of all is the core of the 150THX and 750THX series is returning, but it's unfortunate the MX-150THX subwoofer isn't making a return. It also doesn't look like the S-150PTHX powered speakers will be returning, which isn't a shocker, but is a bummer.
It's unclear whether or not M&K's extremely generous 10-year warranty is returning, but anything is possible. The last piece of the puzzle is what happens for existing owners. Will M&K honor the warranty for legacy M&K owners? Only time will tell, but I sure do hope so. It would be unfortunate if prior owners were left out in the cold.
In any event, seeing proof of M&K's return with my own eyes makes this a great day for audio lovers and the entire industry.
Welcome back M&K.

This is really exciting.
This is really exciting. These are some of the best home theater speakers I've had the pleasure of listening to, it will be interesting to see their return to market.
I have a 750thx system
I have a 750thx system purchased in the early 2000's. I have been trying to get replacement tweeters and have not had much luck. I have just sent an email to Denmark requesting info. Does anyone have any other info on US sources/dealers? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
Saw them at AES - new Danish
Saw them at AES - new Danish ownership is very excited. Products looked and sounded great, as usual
I have yet to see any M&K
I have yet to see any M&K speakers return stateside yet, but thankfully I haven't needed to replace any of my current M&K speakers. Has anyone found them in a US dealer?
