Okay, I can't take it any longer. I have to get my new TV. The 27" CRT I have I got right after college, and because it's not "shiny", the rest of my entertainment center hasn't ever really gotten finished either.
So, here's the plan...
- I've picked out the Samsung 46" DLP HDTV for the TV, because that's what fits in my space. Plus, the price on this puppy's dropped a grand in the last 18 months, meaning I can pick it up from Circuit City for < $2,000 + service plan.
- I gotta get rid of all my remotes. I'm starting that adventure now, and have been drawn early to Sony's LCD macro-driven learning remotes -- there are several models. Anyone have an opinion here?
- And lastly, I have both a TiVo tied to my DirecTV service and a Media PC. I love TiVo, but I hate that I can't save my shows off to anything but VHS, and I hate VHS. I love my Media Center, especially now that I'm upgrading to 2005, but I don't use the tuner there. So, I think my solution will be to pick up a second DirecTV tuner for $50 at Best Buy and $5/month, and hook it up to my Media PC. I questioned this approach in the community here, so please feel free to comment on that idea as well.
That's my genius three-part plan. I'd love advise from all who care and are in the know. What say you all?
