JVC GR-D33US Lens Cap Problem

My camera thinks the lens cap is on but it's not. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Your problem is one of three

Your problem is one of three differant faults. The first one would be a stuck iris assembly inside the lens of the camera. With the cap off, and the camera on, try tapping lightly around the mid point of the lens to see if the iris opens up. If it does open, your going to have to get a good camera repair person to disassemble the lens and replace the iris unit or replace the entire lens assembly, though it is most likly going to cost you more then the camcorders worth. Second problem could be a bad CCD image sensor. Several manufacturers have admitted that they had a bad run on image sensors and are still fixing them under warranty but im not sure if JVC is doing so. Your going to have to contact the repair depot for JVC and ask if they are. Third and final thing that I have seen with this camcorder is bad capacitors on the image processor board. This repair will for sure exceed the cost of the camera. Hope you can get this fixed for a reasonable. price or maybe for free? Good Luck and please let us know when and if you get your camcorder fix.
