The future of video gaming...

Last night I went to a presentation by one of the founders of oddworld, Lorne Lanning.

His presentation was excellent. Funny, creative and relevant. He talked about some the problems in the gaming industry, and where he sees the industry going.

I didn't take notes, but to losely summarize the big predictions:

We will see more collaboration between films and video games, and sharing of technology. (think of the large army scenes from Lord of the Rings, that was accomplished by the use of technology developed for video games.

We will also see more content delivered online, to be downloaded. It may take a while for bandwidth to really make this practical.

I really got a better understanding of what goes into making a video game. The people who are bringing these games to you are artists and story tellers of the highest caliber, and working out of extreme passion.
