Audio on RCA F36650

I have an RCA F36650 that has worked fine for three years.  Recently, without any configurationchange, the Audio is missing (pure silence, no static) when playing a DVD or VHS tape, but it works fine when viewing cable TV or broadcast TV via the anntena.  I have validated the devices and cables are OK (I hooked them up to another TV), and I also hooked up a portable DVD player to the front panel input and had the same problem.   This may have happened overnight when there was a lightning storm.

Does anyone know what is wrong, if repair is an option, and -- if so -- how difficult it would be to execute?

 Thanks.

It sounds like your input

It sounds like your input selector IC is bad. This is a surface mounted IC and cannot be replaced without special tools. I am not certain of the model, but they may even have a board for this set. contact ptscorp, and see if they repair the input board for this model, and how much they charge. Good Luck, and let us know if you do get this set repaired.
