Spdif out from computer problem

I currently am trying to have an spdif output from my comptuer to my reciever. I have analog and digital outputs on the computer and I am currently using an spdif output converted to rca.

This is the converter. I then connected it to the reciever and I am jsut getting static. Does anyone know my problem or what I am missing? thanks
