If the set corrected itself

If the set corrected itself when you hit it, you need to go into the set and resolder the convergence IC.s before the IC's blow out and they will and then you will need to chance them along with a few resistors.

Hi Larry. Recently had a problem with my WS-73909 and the so-called "Blink of Death" (the constant flashing green light), took the advice of a technician and replaced the capacitors on my DM board and have now encountered a new problem. Another infamous problem it seems, TV turns on for about 3 seconds then turns off again. Getting the quick 2 blinking code consistently and was looking for any help concerning this problem. From the previous pages it seems to be the convergence IC. Any help is appreciated. Is this an absolute problem resulting from that code or is there any other possibilities that could be the problem. Just confused about the cascade of troubles that have surfaced in such a short period of time after 9 years of none.

I'm working on a friends

I'm working on a friends Mitsubishi VS-55601. I read this thread from the beginning. I opened the chassis and located the convergence board. He bought the ICs mentioned (STK391-020) from the store you recommended. I replaced them but the TV is still not fixed. Could there be a fuse blown somewhere? The screen is better but still not watchable. How do I get in to the service menus? Should replacing the ICs make the picture viewable and the menus will make it better? I can see the setup menu from the remote. You can set the convergence with the + sign in the middle and corners but they don't seem to move or make a difference. Thanks for any help.

I have a mits WS55905 monitor

I have a mits WS55905 monitor that I got for free. I have a problem with it. When I try to turn the TV the green light turns on then shuts off. No picture at all. I can solder and work on most electrical equipment so taking apart the TV isn't a problem. I just never worked on this type of TV. If anyone has an answer to this I would greatly appreciate it.

my best advise would be to go

my best advise would be to go to tvrepairkits.com and order the Convergence kit for your model of TV set it includes original STK IC'S, resistors, pico fuses, heat sink compound easy to follow directions with pictures and free on-line tech assistance in case you run into a snag with the repair GOOD LUCK!!

Larry,

Larry,

I have a WS-55809 and the convergence went out 6 months ago, like most I cannot afford to fix it, but it has worked well as a dust collector. I believe it to be chassis # V-18 and I was wondering if you had a service manual so I can try and repair it myself. Have never soldered on something this small, but what the heck, the TV is just sitting there! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Larry,

Larry,
Do you have a second source for authentic ICs if www.electronic-repair-kits.com is sold out? i am looking for STK394-250 for a WT42313 Mitsubishi. www.tvrepairkits.com doesn't appear to list this model. Thanks.

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

I really hope you can help me. I just purchased a Mitsubishi WT-46807 rear projection television from a thrift store. It has worked great for about two weeks and all of a sudden today, I get no picture but I still get sound. When the screen comes up the letterings of Input-1 or Component-1 come up in three different colors (black, red, and green) that are just offset from one another. It looks like you are watching a 3-D Movie without the blue/red glasses on. Nothing seems to work and there is no mention of this as a problem in the troubleshooting section of the manual. I took a lot of time to rework the family room to accomodate the large tv and I would hate to have done it for nothing. i really hope that you can help me in this problem! Thank you in advance!

Larry,

Larry,

I have a WT-46805 that has a nasty green shadow around anything that is white on the screen. Additionally, when there is any onscreen menu or volume adjustment, the green shadow bleeds to the right of anything that appears on the screen. Any thoughts on a cheap fix?

Hello, I own a Mitsu WT-42313 and just suddenly, the picture is about the size of a large football on my screen with yellow and red lines around it.The sound is ok coming from the cable as is the picture in the middle, what could be the problem? Thanks

Hi Larry

Hi Larry

Forgive me posting this here if you see another thread I created elsewhere. You appear to be an expert as your title states and you might be able to help me.

I just had a TV given to me that is going bad which I would like to repair for a gaming console system for my child.

When cold and first powered on there are horizontal lines across the top 6 to 8 inches and bottom 6 to 8 inches of the screen for about an hour till it warms up good then the screen is normal and looks good.

I suspect leaky or dry capacitors but have not opened it up yet to inspect it. I used to do component level board repair on computers and monitors so am comfortable and confident in repairing it safely myself (discharging high voltage components) if the parts are available that I will need. I do not currently have an ESR meter but will get one.

Do you have any tech manuals and/or schematics on this set? I checked the manuals for download here in technician download area but this set is not in the list. With those I would have the guidance I need to test it out and see if it is worth the effort or not depending on what is going out on it. It will only get worse and if it is taking an hour to straighten out now, I suspect it is on its last leg if not repaired. I don't want to invest much in it though either. Money is tight right now. :-(

Set Info: Mitsubishi VS-50605, Chassis VZ7, MFG'd Dec 2000

Thanks in advance for any help, guidance, and/or manuals you can turn me on to.

Hi Larry

Hi Larry

Looks like I have another question for you also.

Paying my neighbor back for picking up the set in the post above. I took my remote over to his place to see if he could use it to set his convergence on his set listed below which was given to him.

Set Info: Mitsubishi VS-5043, Chassis ???, MFG'd Jun 1996

The remote works, but when you get to the adjust part, the red and blue targets do not move. Don't know if it is my remote or his board, but he has another problem also. The image is pin cushioned bowing down at the top, up at the bottom, in on the sides and is severe in the amount of convergence offset.

The only data on my remote is on the inside of the battery cover: 290P098C30 EUR647010B

Guess I need to research a remote ID also for him to order if my remote will not perform the adjustments on his set after/if we repair it.

--Edit: I know what remote he needs now: Part Number: 290P066010 / Generic Number: 290P066B10 (Around $45 New) Still don't know if mine should have been able to perform the adjustments or if the adjustment problem is his set though.

I told him I would research his and fix his as well if economical. Do you have any advice on this condition or components to test and replace? Do you have manuals/schematics for this set? Reading your posts it appears I may be able to buy the IC's or a Kit, but I do not see the Model in any of your posts to have an existing reference to go by.

One more question. I went to Mitsubishi's site and they do not have owner manuals for my set in the post above or this set. I have not found a free downloadable manual for mine yet but have not looked for one on Google for this set yet. This is odd because there are some of the model manuals (ie VS-50609) in the VS line there for download.

Do you know of a location where these models owner manuals can be downloaded.

Thanks in advance

Ronald Blake

--- Edit/Update 1924 hr's CDT:
Found your download "Mitsubishi VS-5043-44,VS4544-45, VS6043" but still would like your advice if possible on this set as well as any manuals and advice you can offer on my set in the post before this post for the VS-50605. Thanks again
