Speed,

Speed,
I hope you sent them a link to this thread.
Although I am sure they know about the problem.
They are just ignoring us.
Well, I have a suggestion.
When you are done repairing your sets, email the Prez of Mitsubishi and let hi
or her know what this has done to thier reputation.
I would sure thin twicwe about buying another set from Mitsu.
My problem started 4 moths after I bought it.
The repair people obviously replace the DM board complete,
because mine was not altered, and the same under rated
caps were in it.
just thought I would add my two cents.
Set IS still working fine.

I am so pleased that you were

I am so pleased that you were able to repair your TV set. You do realize, you saved a ton of cash by doing this repair yourself? Great job!. One more thing, look in the service Manual you received and see how the front screen comes apart so you can clean off the mirror and the three lens. It really brings back a lot of brightness and contrast to the set most of the time. Makes a world of difference on most TV sets.

Hello,

Hello,
I just recently ran into some problems with my 52" wd-52725. I've had it for about 4 years now. Just recently I was watching tv and it completely shut down all by it self and would not turn back on. The bulb was only about 6 months old, so I took the tv to a local repair man. He changed out a couple of capacitors that had started to buldge and everything worked fine for about a month. The other day I come home and the lamp indicator light was a constant red and the tv wouldn't turn on. So I thought it might be the bulb and replaced it, but I'm still having the same problem. I'm thinking now it might be another capacitor has gone bad. I've already spent more than I'd like to on bulbs and repairs at this point and was hoping you can send me any info that might help me fix this problem myself.
Thanks, John [email protected]

Hi Larry. I have WS-65813

Hi Larry. I have WS-65813 and i'm having the same issue with the green flashing light. Can you send me instructions on how to fix my tv too? I'm VERY inexperienced in this type of repair, and do not have the vocabulary... but i'm willing to do WHATEVER it takes to get it working again. Even if i break it while trying to fix it. Thanks so much for any help you can offer.

I have WS-65813 and paid a service company $500 to replace the capacitors for me. Now a few months later, my TV randomly goes black with no sound. I turn it off and back on and it works fine for about an hour or so before it does it again. I am guessing it is the capacitors again. I plan to have the same service company check it out, but not planning to pay another $500 bucks. I am not very happy with this short life disposable television concept Mitsubishi has created. If you could send me the repair instructions that would be great, I think they may come in handy. [email protected]

Iseriouly doubt if that is your problem again. If picture is dark or goes dark intermittently with or without lines and or fuzzy picture or if the screen turns blue and the set shuts off, check IC9C25. Could be bad, or bad connections It is on the signal board. Right behind the input or whatÂ’s called the terminal board. The IC is a BA09FP. This IC supplies 9 volts to the terminal board. Try resolding it first. Good Luck

Hello! I have a big problem

Hello! I have a big problem because i think i broke my boyfriends tv. its the ws-65615. when i came home one day the power had surged and the tv wasnt working, when i pressed the power button nothing happened. i tried the reset button and the green led blinks for about a minute then the led turns off it will not power on with the buttons on the tv panel or the remote. i downloaded a users manual and it said to try pushing the menu and the power button for 10 seconds, that didnt do anything. ive unplugged everything and tried reset only a million times. im a pc tech so im a little ok with soldering, but i just wanted to know if you think replacing those capacitors will fix the problem? if so could you send over the info? i really appreciate any help you can give !!!! :)

Sunny I doubt if you broke

Sunny I doubt if you broke your boyfriends TV set or if this fix will fix your TV set, you have a different model of TV set. You need to press the input and menu buttons on the TV set at the same time and let me know what the two digit code is that the LED flashes I am not sure if this model is like the WS5513 or not, if you could send me a picture of the back off of the TV set I will see or
not if this is the sameset I have a fix for. Good Luck!

You were right, it was the BA09FP.  I replaced it and my TV is working again. The service company was going to charge me $600 to $700 to fix the problem.  I bought the $1.79 BA09FP regulator online and replaced it my self. I guess as long as I can fix the problems myself as they come up, I will keep my TV for a while longer.

Larry,Strange thing happened. My Mitsubishi WS-65813 went into “green blink” about two weeks ago. Called Mitsubishi and they told me to unplug for 30 min. and then re-plug directly into wall socket and said to reset…it was still blinking. They gave me local service contacts. I called the one recommended and they were very busy and would call me back in a week. I then found this site and saw so many “green light “ threads. Yesterday, the electricity went out in neighborhood. I saw the electric trucks in my area and the electricity came back on about an hour later. Ironically, during this time the TV repairperson called and made an appointment for this coming Wednesday. Price would be $50 to come, $65 to look and said the usual price for a TV of that size was $200-250. I was so appreciative of the information you sent; yet I knew I couldn’t do it. So, I thought I’d plug it in one more time…blinking green light as usual. I left it on and forgot about it. About two hours later I remembered I left the Blinking green light TV plugged in. Checked it and NO BLINKING LITE. TV works again and I don’t know why. Sorry for the long and boring note, yet I had to tell you. I haven’t cancelled the fixit service yet…I hope I will be able to. Larry, Been looking for instructions for the blinking light on the 65813 this past week, and didn't see them come through: [email protected]. Would you mind please re-sending them? I'll watch the "spam eater" folder carefully and adjust it accordingly. Thanks. Davehess

Hi Guys,

Hi Guys,

I got this TV from a nice lady who has implemented the suggested reapirs. She replaced the four capacitors on the DM unit and also an IC numbered IC9C25. I removed the DM to examine her work. It looks good. I even remelted the solder on each of the cap leads to make sure they were good. The polarity is correct and the caps are the correct type as recomended. 16v 1000uF 105c. It looks like they came from Mouser electronics.  Anyway the TV will turn on for about a half hour or so and then blink off and the green light flashes. At that point it won't turn on for awhile. But then later it will. I tried running it without the DM metal cover. (and all the proper grounds in place) and the same thing happened. Is there anything else anyone can recommend?

Update:I decided to mess around with it a little more before I sent this post.  I had cut out a hole for a fan in the DM cover. I wanted even more air circulation than the small holes would allow.  So cutting it with the tin snips made the inside slightly convex. As I was sliding the cover back onto the DM one of the bent in edges caught on one of the new capacitors. It was loose. Not sure how that happened with the reheating of the solder and all but now it's been plugged in an running a DVD for about 1.5 hours now. I think I'm on my way. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Not sure if I need it now but I have the fan on the DM all ready to go. Where can I get 12 volts from to run it? Do I need to step the voltage down from the 120 or is there somewhere inside I can find a spare 12v?

Thanks

Paul

Update again... It went for 1.5 hours on the DVD and then clicked off again. The screen went blue. Then after a few minutes the TV turned off. There was no error code. (actually a 12). I waited for a short while and I turned it back on again. After awhile and it turned off again, same symptoms. Any ideas?

Larry Dillon
Man you ask a lot of

Man you ask a lot of questions in one post. As far as the fan goes. get a 6 volt DC AC adaptor and plug it into the same outlet you do the TV set. You may ask but then it will run all the time, YES it will but so does the DM board!. With the 6 volt adaptor the fan is only running at half speed so you should not hear it. Now as far as the DM 50% of folks who attempt this repair do not seat the DM into the connectors correctly as the right way to do this is to set the board, THEN add the case around it, That is probably why the set worked for you after you installed the fan. The 9 volt regulator iC may be bad again if the screen is blue, Measure on both sides of the iC and see if there is 9 volts on one side of the iC. If not then it is bad again , probably not the right one. try to get the original one from Mitsubishi. As far as finding 12 volts inside the set, I am not an engineer, so I highly advise against modifying any circuit inside a TV set. Yes there are 12 volt sources but I am not sure how much load they can handle as engineers who made the set I am sure did not leave much room for error as far as current draw goes.

Larry Dillon
Woody, the first symptom of

Woody, the first symptom of the caps being bad is that it is intermittant, believe me the set IS not fixed. You need to hav the capacitors changed before they burn out the DM please do not be penny wish and dollar foolish which means spend a fe now before you have to spend several hundred!

Larry Dillon
woody56, that is the first

woody56, that is the first indicatin that the capacitors are bad, when the set is intermittant, that means they(the caps) are not bad all the way yet and the DM is still good and not blown out. Although it will be or go bad soon unless you hav the caps replaced ASAP!
