Hi.

Hi.
If anyone needs a 5A 125V Littelfuse pico type fuse to replace F9A04 and F9A05, I have extras from a lot that I purchased to fix my tv. Please send me a message if you are interested. Also, I wanted to backup what Larry said, don't assume that the new convergence ICs are good. I replaced them twice because the first set just blew the power supply fuse. But the second set with a new fuse...perfect!

Thanks.

Hi, i have a Mits WT-46807

Hi, i have a Mits WT-46807 and my convergence was way off. Never had the bow tie effect but just bad convergence, I replaces the STK 570's and now the convergence is even worse. Is there a reset code , i have tried adusting manually but the left 12 inches of the screen are extremely blury and wavy.

any help is appreciated.

Where did you get the IC's

Where did you get the IC's from and are they original Sanyo IC's? Also, did you attempt to adjust the set before you made the repair? Did you check the small circuit board fuses in the main power supply? Did you do a good clean soldering job on the IC's and made sure there were no shorts between the pins? Did you double check all of the plugs and connectors on the board before you plugged it back in?

the_uncowboy
I got the IC's from

I got the IC's from electronix. I attempted to adjust the set before but could not get the convergence to stay. The tv turns on fine, just now i have the bow tie effect and bad convergence. Do you think the IC's were bad.

Doi you know how to read a

Doi you know how to read a schematic and measure plus and minus voltages. If you do, look at the schematic and make sure you have the plus and the minus 24 volts on both IC's. If you do not, find out why. Bad fuse, cap, resistors, etc.

Thenm get the original IC's from HERE http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/index.html. Make sure also, before you install the new IC's, you apply a good coat of heat sink compound to the back of the new IC's

the_uncowboy
Ok will check out the volts

Ok will check out the volts on the IC's. I applied a good even coating on the new ic's i put in. Will order some new ones and start again. Question, a bad fuse will still let it turn on and work, but cause convergence problems ?

Larry Dillon
Oh yes it certainly would!.

Oh yes it certainly would!. There are several power supply sources and each one is protected by a fuse. Like I said, they will not look like the standard glass type fuse.

are you talking about the

are you talking about the pico fuses. where do i start looking ? in general

Larry Dillon
In the main power supply,

In the main power supply, They are marked on the board and start with F9A01 to F9A06

Thanks Larry... I didn't

Thanks Larry... I didn't realize that was frowned upon.

OK JJ, Not a big deal man.

OK JJ, Not a big deal man. Like I suggested, write a letter to the editor for permission or ask for a forum to sell or to piece out the set.

Okay Lary, I replaced the

Okay Lary, I replaced the fuses and now the set clicks on and off about 20 times ,then will stay on untill turned off.The set will turn on and off with no problem untill you unplug the set and plug it back in, then it does the same thing over again. WS 65869

thanks Michael

Have you replaced C9A60 yet?

Have you replaced C9A60 yet? That cap causes loads of troubles. Also, once the voltage ar on, check all of them in the switched supply for low condition.

Larry - Thanks for the

Larry - Thanks for the details on the convergence ICs.

I have a Mitsubishi VS-60805 with blue not wanting to converge. I have already cleaned the circuits just to see if this would help. It seems I need to replace the two ICs, STK392-040.

My questions are -

Would you know how the white ribbon cables are disconnected from the ajoining boards? The ones I've dealt with when I use to repair circuits ('86-'97) just sliped in/out. I don't want to pull on the connector to hard.

Also, can the center board w/converge ICs be removed leaving the other boards on each side in place? How many screws fasten the center board down?

And lastly, while I am in there, should I go ahead and replace any other components? I read in another thread, you recommended replacing some caps with heat effecient ones and perhaps some of the resistors, pico fuses near the convergence ICs. Do you have a service manual available for this model to help trace down where these are located?

Thank you!

Larry Dillon
No I do not have a service

No I do not have a service manual for this model. One is available for a download and is not expensive. It is down loadable from http://www.servicemanuals.net/results.aspx?type=SM&brand=0&model=VS60805
I never take the boards off the chassis. Way too much trouble. I simply remove some of the wire tie downs and slide the entire chassis out and turn it over and work on it from the bottom. The IC's should be replaced ONLY with original Sanyo type IC's. There are a lot of sites that sell these IC's, but they are not original Sanyo IC's and they will go bad a few months down the road. Don't go cheap and be sorry later. Good Luck

Larry,

Larry,

Thanks for your response. I will look again to see how the chassis comes out. Last night, I ordered the two ICs from the site you have suggested to everyone. I also have the service manual now.

You have email at your techman32k email address. Let me know if you did not receive the email.

-Thanks again!

Hi Larry,

Hi Larry,

I have a Mitsubishi WS-65909 which has just went south. I cannot converge the blue which is producing a 3D image. I have found the service manual and schematics for this set. I have just ordered a replacement STK393-110 from your recommended site (there is only one on my set).

What I'd like to know is what else I should check (I've checked all the large resistors on the board which houses the STK393-110 and they are fine) while I have everything apart. I have all necessary (minus scope at home) tools and rework PCBs at work.

Also, any recommendations on cleaning of the lenses and mirror while I have the set open (they do appear dusty).

Thank you,

Steve

Larry Dillon
Yes that IC has all six

Yes that IC has all six convergence amps built into one. It is very nice but if you have a problem with one convergence amp, you must replace the entire package. Better then the two IC's that most TV projection TVs have. The most important thing with these sets is do not try and make any adjustments with the on screen menu if the convergence goes out of whack. These alignments are only for very small drifting of the convergence due to part aging and what-not. If you do try and correct the convergence without FIRST replacing the IC(s), you might have one heck of a time re-adjusting the convergence when you do repair the correction amp IC's. Now, that said and done, you never want to spray anything directly onto any mirrors or lens inside this set. Always use a very soft type paper towel, like the ones they use to wipe off Cd's or DVDs with. Spray a little bit of windex or other light glass cleaner and wipe off the dirt and grime. If there are smokers in your household, you may need to repeat this several times to get all of the filth and grime off of the mirrors and lens. Good Luck

Larry,

Larry,

Thank you for the reply. One other issue I had experienced for quite some time was a bowing effect on the left and right sides, near the top of the screen. This happened on HD and SD signals. Anything you can recommend that I check to solve this issue while the set is apart?

Thanks again,

Steve

Larry I see your list of the

Larry I see your list of the correction IC's, but I have had no luck finding a place to buy them. Could you help with this? I have a WS-A65. Thank You.

OK, I have a 46807. I

OK, I have a 46807. I replaced the two convergence chips and the set started right up, but the convergences are way off. I mean it is more off now than it was before the chips were replaced. How do i check the pico fuses. i Have a small volt meter, can i put it on the ohm setting and check for continuity ? forgive me i am relatively new to this. The set started right back up , but like i said the convergence is worse off now. I purchased the ics from Electronix, do they sell reputable ic's. any help would be appreciated.

Larry Dillon
It could very well be that

It could very well be that the IC's you got are aftermarket types or factory rejects. I buy only original replacement IC's. From, http://www.electronic-repair-kits.com/index.html Good Luck

richieb
will checking my pico fuses

will checking my pico fuses the way i did it, tell if they are good or bad? someone suggested that i could have a blown fuse. Not sure if i am checking them correctly to see if they are bad?

Larry Dillon
check continuity across them.

check continuity across them. If they hve no continuity, they are bad.

richieb
i have a small voltage, ohm

i have a small voltage, ohm etc tester. I put it on ohm and touched each side of the fuse, the meter jumped so i am assuming there is continuity there. is that a okay way to check them ?

Larry Dillon
As long as the set is

As long as the set is unplugged at the time YES, that means it is good.

richieb
great, it was unplugged lol

great, it was unplugged lol Not gonna shock myself. So I guess I will re order some new STK's and try them and see what happens. Is there any way to clear all the settings on convergence or reset everything back to factory settings. I did the one in the menu, but that doesnt reset the course , fine etc.

Larry Dillon
nope, there is no factory

nope, there is no factory reset to factory values for the convergence.
