The "D Board" for that model
The "D Board" for that model is a A1302180A and a quick glance at this thread would have told you that that board is no longer made and almost imposable to find.  With the right tools, which in my case involve a magnifying glass, anyone can do this repair.
 .
Please note that while Larry is one of the best assets of this boards, much more so than mathelm is or wants to be, mathelm is the one who keeps that spyware plagued ( as they all are ) Pando installed on his computer in order to keep sharing this manual.

This sure sounds like one of my more negative post.  Oh well, must be one a those days.  Heres a nice smiley face  Laughing...... there,  that's better.....

Larry Dillon said: You will

Larry Dillon said: You will need to make sure you get some heatsink compound and dont forget to apply lots of this compound to the metal back of the new IC's before you remount the new IC's to the heat sink. Also you should change both of the IC's because as sure as your born, the other IC will fail a month or so down the road and you will again be back inside the TV set changing the other IC, so it is best to change both at the same time. You might have small feedback resistors burned but most of the time, you only have a problem with the IC's. you also may need the service manual to do touch up alighnment in the service menu as you should never attempt any service manua alighnments without a service Manual. But I have goos news and can save you 25 bucks! Just leave your e-mail addy and i will send you a copy of it for free! You will need to go to pando.com and download this proggy as this proggy lets you e-mail and accept large e-mail files as the service manuals are large files. This is the only way i can send large files via my internet provider. Good Luck and Do let us know how you make out with this repair.

Larry Dillon said: No you should brush it out carefully with A small brush and a vacuum cleaner.  If you purchaced good ICs and used heatsink compound, the IC's should last you.  Good Job on this you saved yourself big bucks!

I had a bestbuy tech come out

I had a bestbuy tech come out to diagnose my Sony KP-51 after it made a loud popping noise and died. I have the PSP extended service. He said he would have to order a "power triple pack" and the "d" board. He said he wanted to have both on hand in case the other had failed as well. So far, two weeks later, after calling and finding out that the repair dept had no record of parts being on order, I get a call back and am told that the parts have been ordered and that it took time for Sony to "research" the parts and get back to them. So it's obvious that the "D" board is no longer available. I did a quick google search, this site and another for Sony parts, and found that out in 5 minutes. I don't know what a "power triple pack" is. I see that there are several lettered parts, "A complete",  "G" complete, etc. Since these are the most costly, I would think that these may be the components that comprise the "Power Triple Pack" the tech was referring to? On one hand I'm glad I have the PSP, but seriously, I'm going into my third week without my TV. Any opinions as to the possible success of the repair with the parts that the tech is going to install? Wonder what he's going to say when he shows up without the "D" board. My service plan expires this month and have received a renewal notice. 3 years for $400.00. My original plan was $250.00 for 4 years.  How much life do you think I'm going to have with this TV? Or should I just invest in a new flat panel? Thanks for any input. George

I had the same convergence

I had the same convergence problem with my Sony as well. I have replaced the IC's but the problem is still there. I think one of the pico fuses are blown - there is one yellow one that does not respond on the amp meter. I have been trying to find the 3.15 amp pico fuses, but have not located one anywhere on the internet. I had heard some people were using 4 amp fuses, can I do this?

 Thanks for any help,

veteyedoc

Wow, talk about convenient.  I turned on my set yesterday and have the same problem with my KP-51WS510.  I have component level electronic repair experience and use to fix TVs back in the day.  Larry, could you send me the service manual also?  Also, where is a good place to order those ICs inexpensively?  I have some heatsink compund that I use for computer CPUs.  Will this work for a good heatsink coumpound for the ICS? Thanks in advance.

Larry:  your post is a Blessing.  My sony went west last week with the same problem as those listed.  Please tell me, what is the cost of the two ICs?  and where can I get a copy of the service manual?   I miss my picture and would love to have it operating by christmas.   Thanks in advance and GOD Bless

Yes, you need to replace the two convergence IC's in this beast. I have sent you a couple of links that will help you repair the TV set as well as explain how the adjustments are made on this TV set. Good Luck

i checked the pico fuses

i checked the pico fuses under the heat sinks i think anyway they are pinkish 2 under left and 4 under right they all seem good so maybe just ic's bad  have not checked g board yet i will get parts after xmas and get back on progress. from what i understand it is hard to get d board is there still somewhere i can look?  what does it mean that the d is crossed out and f stamped next to it? thank you very much i will get back soon

zapdbf
"what does it mean that the d

"what does it mean that the d is crossed out and f stamped next to it?" - nothing that is important to us, most likely it was somthing that was marked on the board durring production.

"from what i understand it is hard to get d board is there still somewhere i can look?" - sony does not make the board anymore but a company called pts may still referbish them. you can try there.

Chuying said: I bought a KP46WS500 Sony TV, 4 years and 20 days later, it had the problem with red out of convergence. I bought the coverage for 4 years and they will charge me $100 to take a look and plus labor and parts. I found this site and read through comments and decide to fix it myself. I downloaded the menu ($15), bought a STK392-560 ($33+$10 shipping), and about half day of work, the TV is back to normal again. I had chance to adjust the focus and clean up the lense, I think it works better than ever before.

I have the same problem with the red being out of convergence on my Sony KP46WT510. I would like a service manual. I have called Sony service repair and they are charging $400 plus parts for a service repair. What part would I need? I also don't have any confidence to replace this part myself. Any suggestions?
