Answer:

There are actually two steps to making this work. The first one is the most elusive, and that's setting up the phone for e-mail. It's not that difficult to do once you have the info, but there is nothing in the manual about how to do this. The second step is easier, provided step 1 has been done, and that's actually sending the e-mail with the phone. E-mail on the phone works very similar to e-mail from a computer. You enter the e-mail address of where you'd like it to go, your message body, and your attachments. You can send picutres through e-mail by adding them as an attachment. How do you do this?

TechLore to the rescue! Below is the steps to walk you through this process. You should only need to setup your e-mail information once. After that, all you have to do is send messages.

The configuration info below assumes that Cingular is your service provider. If it is not, the same steps will apply, but you'll need to contact your service provider for the proper username/password and e-mail settings.

Prerequisite: Obtain the username, password and incoming server name from the Internet Service Provider.

  1. Press the Menu key.

  2. Scroll to "Messages" and press Select

  3. Press the Menu key.

  4. Scroll to "E-mail message setup" and press Select.

If unable to send or receive e-mail troubleshoot accordingly:
  1. Attempt to connect to Media Net on the device. Connectivity to Media Net confirms the device has enough signal strength and GPRS availability to send and receive e-mail.

  2. Send an e-mail from the device to the POP/IMAP e-mail address being used and log directly into that mail account via a browser or mail client on a desktop/laptop computer to validate receipt. If the test e-mail was not received in the primary mail account contact the Internet Service Provider (ISP) as this is indicative of a mail provider issue rather than wireless device or network issue.

  3. If the test e-mail message is not received in the device re-validate e-mail settings.
