DVD Won't Eject From DVD Changer

A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...

Question:

The DVD player (Sony DAV C770) was functioning fine. When the last movie was inserted it refuses to eject it. I never set up a "Parental Lock" on it. Can you help?
Thanks.

Answer:

The movie failing to eject would not be caused by a parental lock feature. The DAV-C770 is a DVD changer with an motorized loading slot. It's not uncommon for these types of loading sytems to mess up from time to time.

Most likely, the disc loaded into the wrong internal slot, or it got jammed somewhere in the unit as it was moving around. It's difficult to tell without seeing it. The only chance you have of repairing it yourself would be to remove the cover of the player, and try to determine if the disc is physically stuck or if it's an electronic problem.

If it turns out to be something you can't fix yourself, check out our guide How to Determine if you Should Repair a Broken Device. It will help you figure out if it's worth repairing or not.
