I just recieved the set from a friend for a great price. Problems are there is a red, green line 1 inch from top when started and the picture flickers here and there. Both problems stop over time guess warmed up. I know about electronics and can replace caps etc..

Can you post a picture or send it to [email protected]?  That would help me to see about where the problem lies.

Guess Ill bring this topic back from the dead. The set was fine all summer then as soon as the cold settled it started again. I got these things to check from another site where should I start. I removed the board from the set already.

CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB
You would have to make some checks:1. CHECK C2P08 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P03 (3.2 VOLT REGULATOR) ON THE SIGNAL PCB. You can try and change that cap first. Hope this helps
These sets have a PIP module which is plugged into main board and has a brown ground wire to the can.Surface mount caps c7001 and c7036 are usually the problem but if the capacitors have leaked too much you may never recover the board,CURE eliminate PIP by putting 10 mfd 50v cap from pin 5 to 11 and another from pin 9 to 7 on the VP plug under the main PCB

Jump out the PIP board first.

Jump out the PIP board first. You may be able to take out the PIP board, send it to ptscorp.com and they can overhaul it. But like I said, you need to put the capacitors across the pins of the PIP cocket first to see if this is indeed your problem. Good Luck

I cant seem to find the VP

I cant seem to find the VP plug what and where is that? and didnt locate the brown ground wire.

Should I start with the caps and the regulator they seem to be cheap easy to replace. Im going to run out to the electronics shop to pick some stuff up tomorrow

Thanks Again

What caps have you replaced?

What caps have you replaced? Did you replace the regulator. Look at the HV regulation circuit. It gives you a block diagram in the service manual.

I also have a VS-60607, that i believe is having the same issues, and then some. I occasionally have a green pwr light that will only come on for a second or two, then eventuall it works fine for awhile. (random intervals).

It also has the bars across the top and waves in and out depending on signal being inputted as well..

I've finally tore into the back of it, and there appears to be only 1 cap that is bubbling.. But i would like to replace all that are associated with it... is this the correct cap?

I also believe that the answer to my 1st question is replacing the 2 STK392-110 's..

This is somewhat a general overiew, if im not mistaken, the DM is on the right hand side? Near the power supply? or am i totally wrong here..

the only cap i could find that was popping up was this one:

heres a close up of the left side... which is where the converger ICs are located.

I Really Doubt if it is the

I Really Doubt if it is the STK IC's causing your problem? yes the cap you show Looks bad BUT to bee sure RSR the cap first also SET THIS Age-could have several bad capacitors in the main power supply or maybe the sweep power supply? ESR all the caps in both,

I have a VS-60707 and have a different problem from those above. When I turn my tv on it makes a click sound and turns back off. My grandkids had the remote and since then it has not worked - is it possible they hit some sort of timer button - or should I stop blaming the kids....

Thanks
Joe
