Hi Larry, I'm yet another owner of a Mitsubishi (WS- 55813) with a blinking light.  Would you be so kind as to send me the capacitor replacement instructions as well as a parts source too please? Thank you, Thank you!!  Bill [email protected]

Hi Larry, received your docs -- thanks so much.  New question:

I vaguely remember a woman earlier in this thread that said her Mitsubishi went out after her heat went off.  I, too, remember that that's when our problems started -- it was the fisrt cold spell for Houston and our heat had not yet been turned on.  Soon after, a warm spell seemed to drive away the blinking light.  Since then, we've had another cold spell, another warm spell and the same thing happened so we decided to just leave the TV on 7/24.

Then the electricity went off and the problem came back.  This time my wife had the idea that we ought to use a hair dryer to gently warm up the TV thru the rear vents (setting the dryer on warm, not hot, and the fan on genntle) which worked!

So, the question is, is it okay to leave the TV on 24 hrs a day until we replace the caps?  We keep the TV on and turn off the cable box which results in a dark sort of dim glow (visible in the darkened room).  Thoughts?

Thanks again -- many people owe you a huge debt of gratitude including our family (with 2 small boys)!!

You will need to change those

You will need to change those capacitors right away. That is a sure fire sign of them going bad. The longer you wait, the less of a chance that replacing them will fix your problem. Do it ASAP! Good Luck

Larry Dillon said: This problem could be a bad DM board.  If you are handy or knows anyone who is, and they can solder, I have an instructional file that will show you how to take out the DM board, find the bad parts, and even give you a source where to get the parts. There are even pictures included!  Now once you get this apart, and the capacitors look good, check the capacitors, or have them checked.  I have seen in a few cases where some folks have only replaced the capacitors that looked bad.  If this does not fix your problem, you will need to have a pro come out and check out your TV set..  If you do not have a clue what you are doing, please play it safe and call in a tech.  If this board is indeed bad, the repair should not eceed 1000 bucks.  If you want this file, leave an e-mail address and i will forwar it to you.  Remember, there is a possibility that there is another problem with your TV set, but this has fixed over 65% of the peoples TV sets that I have shared this file with.  Good Luck, and let us know if this helps you.

Hi Larry, We have just had this dreaded blinking light occur to us with out WS65869.  Can you email me the file for the DM board capacitor replacement steps?  Much appreciated!  [email protected]

Hi Larry,

We did the code test holding down the device butto along with the menu button and we are getting a code 22 - Short Protect.... would our problem be the fuses?  We would still like to have you send the info for the DM repair in case it is not the fuses.... Thank you for your time!

Ok sorry for the 3rd posting here... my husband wanted to relay that our problem is that the TV won't turn on.  When the power it turned on it blinks for 60 seconds or so and then shuts itself off.  I found the error code test through the interenet freelists.org.  We do have the TV on a surge but the power did flicker when the TV was off.  When we turned the TV on it worked but then shut itself off.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you Larry!

Hello,

Hello,

I also have this same problem with my WS65613. Could you possibly send that information along to me as well? Email: [email protected]

Obviously Mitsubishi has to be aware of this rather large problem. Do you know if this has been resolved in newer releases of the televisions? If not it seems to be their attempt to make a "disposeable" product that gets you through the warranty period. After that anything more you get is a bonus. Either way this is the last product I will knowingly  buy from the company.

Thank you so much for the information that you provide about products and problems.

Larry Dillon
rotokid, I know this really

rotokid, I know this really is a wide spread problem that Mitsubishi is totally ignoring. I will of course add you to the growing list of recipients for the repair documents that I will send out later tonight as soon as I sort through all of my e-mails. Good Luck with the repair.
